Project Goal Contribute implementation of ECD service delivery in Mirpur, Gazipur under Dhaka Division, Chattagram and 12 Tea Gardens of Sylhet, Srimangal, and Moulvibazar of Bangladesh.
Project Purpose The purpose of the project is to ensure the increased access of underprivileged marginalized people to Day Care services.
Project Output ●      Increased access to early childhood care and development services through community-based/workplace-based daycare centers.

●      Skill development of caregivers on early childhood development.

●      Age-appropriate early childhood development education delivery to the children of a low-paid working mother and their enrollment in the mainstream school.

Short description UNICEF funded ‘Early Learning and Child Development for Children in urban slum and tea garden – ELCD project’ is a timely response to meet existing needs of the disadvantaged working women and their children, living in the slums of Mirpur, Gazipur, Chattogram, and Sylhet. The Project address the need for increased coverage of Day Care Services to the Garment and tea plantation workers residing in these four areas of the country, and by extension, the other eligible mothers in these residing areas. Simultaneously, the project also addresses the age-appropriate developmental needs of children between 2-4 years of age, thus providing them with appropriate ECD activities to stimulate their learning experiences. Under this project, educational materials are being provided free of cost to the children for holistic development. Centers run 6 days a week and each center can accommodate 20 children and has 2 caregivers. Caregivers conduct Early Childhood Development activities every day through a modern ECD curriculum.
Major Achievements ●      Established 40 childcare centers and operated them successfully

●      575 Children have benefitted from the program over the year

●      Birth Registration approximately 75% of children have completed Birth registration.

●      Ensuring age-appropriate education and ECD service by following a predetermined age-appropriate curriculum

●      Ensuring mothers are going back to their workplace, without worrying about their children, thus they can contribute better to their family.

●      Parents, family, and employers are being aware of the child’s needs, demands, and rights by attending parents, CMC, and co-ordination meetings

●      More than 80% of the parent and Other family members are also getting knowledge of ECD through the childcare program.

●      Overall, the program has achieved its target group widely with childcare program. However, due to the COVID situation, a few activities have been hampered and postponed to next year’s activity.
