NICHE 236- Capacity building to promote day-care services and increase women’s employability in the RMG sector

Project Goal	The project aims to contribute to the creation of a network of quality day-care facilities at RMG factories which will create employability for women caregivers and entrepreneurs. Based on this it will look at business models in which both women entrepreneurs as well as RMG factories are involved.

Major Achievements	Managers received training to build up their capacity to take Phulki forward. A general planning for the upcoming 4 years is made by defining the research options for BRAC Institute of Educational Development (BIED). Market assessment was done to identify the feasibility and need of day care center in RMG sector. Caregiver/child care curriculum was developed based on the training in Netherlands. Caregiver interaction training has been done. 10 days Caregiver certificate course was provided to20 participants. 3 community based day care centers are fully funded by Phulki. To engage Phulki’s program into social business, a business development Training was done. Training conducted on advanced supervision capcity for managers and overall advocacy plan for Phulki. Worked on Phulki’s strategic workplan for next 5 years. Return on Investment (ROI) study is ongoing.
