Project Goal
  1. Approximately 7500 female workers from eight factories are benefited through project interventions.
  2. MHM in place in all partner factories by end of the project.
  3. At least 70% female workers received sanitary pad regularly from partner factories health center
Project Purpose  Approximately 7500 female workers of partner and non-partner factories will be targeted gradually and supported to access sanitary pads at affordable coast as a part of MHM activities during project intervention

  • Partnership and networking established with the stakeholders to make the initiatives operational & sustainable.
  • Partner Factories health facilities equipped/strengthened and utilized for providing counseling, consultation, and services on SRHR
  • Workers, factory staff and management are sensitized on the project intervention and on health including SRHR issues

Beneficiary/Stakeholder  The target beneficiaries are both male and female workers of the selected partner and non-partner factories.
Short description Funded by Auchan Retailer under Weave our Future Foundation and technical supported by SNV Netherlands Development organization, Phulki is working as implementing organization under the project titled “lmplementing MHM model through integration of basket solution. Phulki will equip/strengthen the factory medical centre for ensuring better Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for the targeted factory workers. Phulki supporting to the factories to get access to affordable sanitary pads and selling them in turn to their workers. Family Planning services and products will be ensured to the factory workers. Phulki will continue this operation through both the support from local family planning department and through building mechanisms with the pharmaceutical / private sector company for ensuring family planning products.

Through continuous advocacy from Phulki on menstrual hygiene, Auchan Retailer and factory management is contributing to procure sanitary napkin for their workers and provide it to them in a cost sharing manner as part of investing in SRHR. Workers both male and female of eight partner factories will access family planning and other MHM services and products through GO, NGO and private sector collaboration initiated by Phulki.

Major Achievements
  • Total 3052 (female: 2564, Male; 488) participant have received on MHM issues.
  • Total 36300 sanitary napkins have been purchased by 8 factories for their workers, till October 2020. Total 24311 workers have received sanitary napkins till October 2020.
  • All the factories male and female workers are getting sanitary napkins from their medical center with affordable price.
  • Purbachal is providing sanitary napkin to the male workers from July 2020
  • C & R Sweater is providing subsidy BDT. 8 in per pack sanitary Napkin. So, the workers are getting at cost BDT. 10
  • Purbachal Apparels Ltd. providing sanitary napkin at BDT. 18 and they will continue it up to the project span
  • MM Knit will contribute 20% cost for each pack for next two years
  • T. Sweater Ltd. Providing at BDT. 18 and they will continue it up to the project span
  • T. Sweater declared prize/award for the respective supervisors and in charges who could distribute highest quantity of sanitary napkin to the workers for their specific line from October 2020. So, the floor management encouraging workers to receive sanitary napkin from factory medical centre.
  • All the factories are maintaining the new format (provided by SNV) for record keeping from September 2020
  • M.M. Knitwear arranged a new shelf to store and display sanitary napkin in the factory medical centre
