Project Goal |
- Approximately 40,000 female workers of partner and non-partner factories are benefitedthrough project interventions.
- MHM in place in all partner factories by end of the project.
- At least 70o/o female workers received sanitary pad regularly from partner factories healthcenter
- 4. At least 10% female workers received family planning commodities (Pill/Condom)

Project Purpose |
Approximately 40,000 female workers of partner and non-partner factories will be targeted gradually and supported to access sanitary pads at affordable costas a part of MHM activities during project intervention. |

Short description |
Funded by SNV Netherlands Development organization, Phulkiwill be working as implementing organization under the project titled “lmplementing MHM model throughintegration of basket solution” with a view to make it a successful business initiative. Phulkiwill equip/strengthen the factory medical centre for ensuring better Sexual and ReproductiveHealth and Rights (SRHR) for the targeted factory workers.Phulki will support factories to get access to affordable sanitary pads and selling them in turnto their workers. Family Planning services and products will be ensured to the factory workers.Phulki will continue this operation through both the support from local family planningdepartment and through building mechanisms with the pharmaceutical / private sectorcompany for ensuring family planning products. Phulki will also ensure gender equity andsensitiveness in all its market engagement and awareness activities.
Through continuous advocacy from Phulki on menstrual hygiene, factory management willstart to contribute in procuring sanitary napkin for their workers and provide it to them in a costsharingmanner as part of investing in SRHR. Workers both male and female of three partnerfactories will access family planning and other MHM services and products through GO, NGOand private sector collaboration initiated by Phulki.
To make the initiativecommercially viable, the service provider will also cater the initiatives to the non-partnerfactories located at project locations i.e. Gazipur, Tongi, Savar and Narayanganj area. |
Major Achievements |
- Establish ‘Family Planning Corner’ inside the factories medical center
- Coordination meeting with GOs and NGOs
- Advocacy meeting with Govt. organizations and facilitate the govt. supply of family planning commodities (Oral Pill and Condom) in the factories
- Lobby with the pharmaceutical/ private sector company for ensuring family planning product (Oral pill)
- Engage private sector to ensure supply of sanitary pads and hygiene products under basket solutions in partner factories
- Organize advocacy meeting with the senior management of the factories to brief them on project intervention
- Organize Training of Trainers (ToT) for the mid-level management (Supervisor, welfare Officer, HR/Compliance Officer) of both partner and non-partner RMG factories to make them change maker
- Organize workers’ awareness on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and other SRHR related issues in the factories
- MHM Day Celebration in 10 Factories
- Advocacy meeting with the pharmaceuticals company for procuring essential drugs, FP commodities and nutrition products at a subsidized rate
- BCC campaigning to integrate MHM Basket products
- Experience Sharing meeting at Narayangonj
- Included 6 non-partner factories with this project to make them change maker for aware their workers on SRHR and provide sanitary napkin with reduced cost
- MHM Basket solution study/survey in the partner factories
- Total 15392 workers (Female-12742 and Male-2248) benefited from this project till October2020. They received Pill- 2713, Condom-2032, Injectable-850, Sanitary Napkin- 8344 and other heath service/products 1453 from their factory medical centre.
