Anti-Harassment Committee
Enhancing the competency of the Anti-Harassment Committee to ensure that workplaces are protected against gender-based violence and harassment.
Phulki seeks to enhance factory working conditions and raise awareness of labor standards, which coupled with functional grievance procedures help to enhance working circumstances. In order to educate factories about workers’ rights at work, particularly those of women, and to address and prevent the occurrence of gender-based violence, Phulki offers the Workplace Education Program on Violence and Harassment program. This is done by establishing and strengthening internal Anti-Harassment Committees. This builds on the requirements laid out in the High Court Verdict.
Specific deliverables:
– An introduction meeting
– To form workplace AHCs (if needed)
– One main training course for the committee members
– Attend AH committee meetings as the external member
The objective of this course is for participants to understand the essential elements of a secure and effective workplace, and for management to learn how to support this.
PHULKI aids factories in establishing the AHC. The committee members attend an additional half-day of training after being assembled. Phulki establishes a system for communication and interaction between managers and employees by assisting in the election and efficient operation of these AHCs, which is beneficial in and of itself. Phulki gives worker representatives, especially women, the training and support they need to feel confident speaking up for their coworkers and raising and resolving issues.
Phulki assists in the initial phase of creating a working Anti-Harassment Committee. The members of the Committee are then instructed and urged to educate their coworkers about this ubiquitous type of human rights violation. The program also focuses on bringing awareness of a gender-friendly workplace, including factories free from gender-based violence, to male employees, managers, and supervisors. Phulki disseminates best practices that foster an encouraging strategy for employee involvement in the larger industry. In addition, PHULKI trainers will attend their bimonthly Anti-Harassment Committee meetings to provide additional guidance on managing a successful AHC and establishing a workplace free of gender-based violence, as mandated by the High Court Verdict.
